Use the USB cable to connect xTool M1 to your computer. And turn on the device.
Open XCS on the computer. In the upper right corner of XCS, click the "+ New Project" button.
In the upper right corner of XCS, click the "Switch Device/Connect Device Icon" next to the device. Select "Connect Device" and then choose the device you want to connect.
Click Connect device. Select the device to connect.
Note: If you have connected an xTool device in XCS before, move the mouse pointer to the device name and click Connect in the list.
STEP 2 Place the material
Open the cover of the xTool M1 Ultra and place the material to be processed on the baseplate. If it is necessary to cut the material, it is recommended to place the triangular prism on the base plate first and then place the material, so as to reduce the burn marks on the back of the material and protect the baseplate.
STEP 3 Select the processing mode and material name
Select the Process on baseplate processing mode.
In the top-right corner, click User-defined material, select the name of your material, and click Confirm.
STEP 4 Shoot background and design a processing object
In the top-right corner of XCS, click the Refresh background icon.
Use the left-side tools to create objects on the canvas.
💡 Note: You can import images, insert shapes, enter text, draw vector graphics, and so on. For more information on how to use XCS to design objects, see Software Learning Center.
STEP 5 Edit objects and set parameters
After you select a material on the material list or material library, the software will automatically set parameters for laser processing. The default settings apply to xTool materials. You can adjust the settings based on your needs. If you select User-defined material, you need to set the processing parameters by yourself.
Select objects on the canvas.
Set processing parameters for the object to be processed.
You can further edit the objects by using the other features in the upper panel.
STEP 6 Measure the thickness of the material
If you use a user-defined material, you can click the Auto-measure iconto enable XCS to measure the thickness of the material. If auto-measure fails, use a caliper to measure it and enter its thickness.
If you have raised your material by using triangular prisms, select Triangular prism on the top of the canvas.
💡 Note:
If the surface of the material is lower than the bottom of xTool M1, autofocusing may fail. The pop-up window indicates "Auto-measure failed". At this time, click Manual-measure to enter the distance manually. Visit M1 Manual Focusing Tutorial in Open Plane Mode to learn more.
STEP 7 Preview the processing area
Click theicon to set the speed and light power according to your materials.
💡 Tips:
If the speed of framing is too fast or the power of the laser module is too low to preview the processing area clearly, you can set the speed and power and then start framing.
If the power is set too high, it may leave a burn mark even burn the materials because different materials have different properties. Please adjust the power according to the materials. The speed range is from 80mm/s to 180mm/s. The power range is from 1% to 10%.
Close the lid of xTool M1, and then click Framing in the software. Press the button on xTool M1 to start framing.
After you confirm that the processing area is proper, click Framing completed in XCS. If the area is not ideal, you can adjust the material position or adjust the element positions in the software, and then preview the processing area again.
STEP 8 Start processing
Click Start, and press the button on xTool M1 to start processing.
