When using the “Aimed Measure” feature in the “Process on Slats” mode and focusing on the center of the processing area, you may encounter a thickness/distance error exceeding 0.5 mm. Follow the instructions below to troubleshoot this issue:
Check Material Flatness: Ensure the material has an even surface before attempting the “Aimed Measure” again.
Address Material Properties: For transparent or highly reflective materials, the material properties may reduce the accuracy of the “Aimed Measure.” Place a sheet of white paper on the material before measuring again.
If the above solution does not resolve the issue, follow this guide to calibrate the “Aimed measure”.
Tools needed
3mm thick acrylic sheet *1
Two-in-one screwdriver (included with the machine)
1.5 mm hex key (included with the machine)
Calibration procedure
Step 1 First Measurement
Install slats onto the machine.
Ensure the slats are properly and fully inserted into their slots, as improper placement can result in inaccurate calibration.
Ensure enough slats to support the acrylic sheet.
Remove the top cover of the laser module.
Place the acrylic sheet in the center of the processing area.
Connect P2S to your computer via USB and launch xTool Creative Space (V2.1 or above).
Close the lid.
Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner to access "Settings."
Based on your computer's operating system, press the corresponding keyboard shortcut to load the "Distance measurement":
For Windows: Ctrl+Shift+C
For Mac: Command+ Shift ⇧ +C
The "Distance measurement" option will appear in the settings menu where click "Calibrate" to enter the calibration interface.
Read through the precautions before clicking "Start to calibrate aimed-measure".
Ensure the above tools are ready.
Place the acrylic sheet in the center of the working area. Close the lid before clicking the "Process" button on the left.
After processing, reopen the lid for observation. Use the movement function to align the red laser dot with the burn mark on the acrylic sheet. Once aligned, click “Next.”
💡Note If the mark is not visible, place a sheet of white paper over the acrylic to improve visibility.
Step 2 Second Measurement
Remove the slats and place an acrylic sheet on the baseplate (refer to the images below). Close the lid before clicking "Process".
After processing is complete, a burn mark will appear on the acrylic sheet.
Click "Test" on the right screen to move the laser module to the left. Check if the red laser dot overlaps with the burn mark:
If they completely overlap, click "Overlap" to proceed to the next step.
If the red laser dot does not perfectly align with the burn mark, follow the steps below to adjust the distance sensor.
On the laser module, loosen the two screws as indicated on the left screen before adjusting the screws as indicated on the right screen to ensure perfect alignment.
Screws 1 and 2 to adjust the X-axis alignment of the red dot.
Screws 3 and 4 to adjust the Y-axis alignment of the red dot.
Once the red dot perfectly overlaps with the burn mark, click "Next."
Step 3 Z-axis Calibration
Remove the acrylic sheet and install a slat with the thicker side facing upward.
Use the laser module movement function (refer to the right screen) to ensure the distance sensor’s red dot falls on the slat.
After confirming the red dot is on the slat, click "Next" to complete the calibration process.
Additional notice
Ensure Proper Installation: Fully insert the slats into their slots throughout the calibration process.
Test Calibration Results: Use XCS to measure the material’s distance or thickness to verify the calibration of the “Aimed Measure.”
Accurate Testing: Use an acrylic sheet for testing. If the measurement error exceeds 0.5 mm, repeat the calibration procedure.
