You can use xTool F1 Ultra with the rotary attachment to process cylindrical materials. With Rotary Attachment 2 Pro, you can also process spherical and irregular materials.
This page describes how to use xTool F1 Ultra with the rotary attachment for processing.
Note: No rotary attachment is included in the pack of xTool F1 Ultra.
Rotary Attachment 2 Pro supports two working modes: Roller mode and Chuck mode. If you have xTool Accessory Kit for RA2 Pro, you can install the L-shaped module on Rotary Attachment 2 Pro to adapt to more scenarios.
Assemble and set up the rotary attachment based on your needs.
Note: Rotary Attachment 1 and Rotary Attachment 2 support only Roller mode.
Level A | Level B | Level C |
Diameter of material:3 mm≤d≤50 mm | Diameter of material:45 mm≤d≤60 mm | Diameter of material:d>60 mm |
Note: For more information on how to assemble and set up the rotary attachment, see xTool Rotary Attachment 2 (RA2) User Guide and Tips for using the L-shaped module of RA2 Pro.
Note:
- If the connection cable included in the rotary attachment pack is incompatible with xTool F1 Ultra, you need to purchase a compatible one.
- You can connect the rotary attachment to any extension port.
There are four groups of marking lines on the baseplate of xTool F1 Ultra.
(1) Use the USB cable to connect xTool F1 Ultra to your computer.
(2) On the top of the project editing page, click Please connect a device. Then, on the pop-up window, click the name of your device to connect to it.
If you use the rotary attachment in Roller mode, place the material between the two rollers.
If you use the rotary attachment in Chuck mode, fix the material on the jaws.
(1) On the right side of XCS, select Use rotary attachment. Then, select the working mode of the rotary attachment.
(2) In the top-right corner, click User-defined material, select the name of your material, and click Confirm.
Note:
- If you can't find your material in the list, you can click More xTool materials to search among more materials in the Material EasySet Library.
- If you still can't find the name of your material, you can select User-defined material.
Note: After you select a material from the material list or Material EasySet Library, the software will automatically set parameters for laser processing. The default settings apply to xTool materials. You can adjust the settings based on your needs.
(1) Check whether the red and blue light spots are both at the top of the material. If not, follow the steps in "Connect the rotary attachment to xTool F1 Ultra" to readjust the position of the rotary attachment.
(2) Click the icon in Thickness to start auto-focusing. When auto-focusing is complete, XCS displays the thickness of the material, and on xTool F1 Ultra, the red and blue light spots overlap.
(1) On the right of XCS, click Refresh under Snapshot preview.
Note: XSC takes a photo of xTool F1 Ultra’s processing area and uses it as the canvas background. You can position processing objects based on the background.
Note: To ensure positioning accuracy, set the laser focus before shooting the background.
(2) Drag the green line over the canvas to make it overlap with the blue and red spots.
Note: The green line indicates where the laser processing starts.
(3) Design processing objects on the canvas below the green line. You can use the tools to the left of the canvas to import images, insert shapes, enter text, draw vector graphics, and so on.
Note: The gray area above the green line is a non-processing area. Do not place processing objects in this area, or the objects cannot be processed.
(4) Select the objects to further edit them using the features on the right panel.
Note: For more information on how to use XCS to design objects, see Software Learning Center.
Select objects on the canvas. Then, click the icon to unfold the EasySet panel and set parameters for the selected objects on the panel.
Note:
- You need to set parameters for every object. A missed object may fail to be processed.
- The parameters that can be set for bitmap objects and vector objects are different. You can select multiple objects of the same type and set parameters for them at once.
Image - Engrave: Laser beams hit the surface of the material to change the color of the surface. By creating different shades of color on the material surface, xTool F1 Ultra prints an image on the material.
Vector - Score: Laser beams walk along the path of the vector graphic, drawing the vector on the material with lines.
Vector - Engrave: Laser beams walk through the entire area enclosed by the vector path, engraving the vector on the material with monochromatic fillings.
If you have saved settings for the same type of material before, you can use your saved settings.
If you want to manually set the parameters, select User-defined. Then, set the parameters below. After setting the parameters, you can click Save setting to save it for further use.
Note: For more information about the processing parameters, see The Processing Parameters for xTool F1 Ultra.
On the right side, set the processing path at the bottom of the panel.
(1) Turn on or off the Evade smoke mode.
When this feature is enabled, the device follows a path less affected by the smoke to process the material.
Note: You are advised to enable this feature for scoring on materials such as wood and corrugated paper that produce heavy smoke. Otherwise, the heavy smoke may block the laser beams and interfere laser processing.
(2) Set the Processing path.
You can preview the processing area on the material by framing. Framing means laser dots walk along the border of the processing objects on the material. Take the following steps to start framing:
(1) At the bottom-right corner of the software, click the icon next to the Framing button to set the laser power used for framing.
(2) Click Framing in the software. The laser dots will move along the boundary of the processing objects on the material so that you can preview the processing area.
Note: If the processing area is not ideal, adjust the object positions in the software, and the boundary shown on the material changes accordingly in real time.
To stop framing, click the Stop Framing button at the bottom-right corner of XCS.
(1) In the bottom-right corner of the software, click Go to process.
(2) Preview the processing pattern and path.
On the bottom-left corner, click the button, and XCS will show you the processing path.
(3) Wear a pair of goggles that can shield laser beams of 455 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths.
Note:
- When xTool F1 Ultra is used with the rotary attachment, its protective enclosure cannot be fully closed. For your safety, it is recommended that you wear goggles during processing.
- Safety goggles are not included with xTool F1 Ultra or the rotary attachment. Please purchase them separately.
(4) In the upper right corner of the software, click Start. When the software shows “Ready”, press the XTOOL Start/Stop button on the touchscreen controller to start processing.
