  • While M1 Ultra is well-suited for processing common household items such as medium-sized cutting boards, chessboards, and puzzles, your project size is not strictly limited by the processing area.
  • Through assembly from laser-cut parts, you can easily create large projects that exceed the machine's working area.

5. What interchangeable processing modules does M1 Ultra have?

  • Multi-function Carriage
  • Ink Module
  • 10W Laser Module
  • 20W Laser Module

6. What xTool accessories are compatible with M1 Ultra?

  • M1 Ultra is compatible with several xTool accessories, including the Desktop Air Purifier for F1, the Air Assist Set for S1, the Fire Safety Set for S1, and the Rotary Attachment 2 Pro. All these accessories can be connected to M1 Ultra via a 12-pin mini-USB cable. For this special cable, please contact xTool Customer Service for a purchase link.
  • Besides, M1 Ultra can be connected to the powerful Smoke Purifier via a dedicated adapter which will be available for sale on the xTool Official website at www.xtool.com in late July.
  • No doubt M1 Ultra also works seamlessly with the Screen Printer, but it is only compatible with small-sized screen printing frames, specifically 9 inches x 12 inches (228.6mm*304.8mm).
  • For users with M1, they can also enjoy the flexibility of making full use of M1's 45° blades for fine cutting on M1 Ultra. It is a pity, however, that the 60° blades are not recommended as they have not been optimized for M1 Ultra’s processing algorithms. As for the Air Assist Set for M1, it can be adapted to operate with M1 Ultra manually, despite the absence of an adjustment option within xTool Creative Space (XCS).

7. What is the difference between the cutting blade and the fine-point blade?

  • Cutting Blade: This blade can control the angle for greater cutting pressure, making it suitable for thicker materials, for example leather and PVC, with a maximum cutting thickness of 2.5 mm.
  • Fine-point Blade: It is a static blade, ideal for thin, flexible materials such as paper, stickers, and vinyl, with a maximum cutting thickness of 1.5 mm.

💡 Kindly Reminder: Due to the need for angle adjustment, the cutting blade’s processing time is longer than that of the fine-point blade.

8. What materials are suitable for the rotary blade of M1 Ultra?

  • The rotary blade is designed for cutting flexible materials with some elasticity, including denim, cotton, and linen. It helps prevent material stretching during processing.

9. What materials are suitable for the foil transfer tip of M1 Ultra?

  • The foil transfer tip is crafted to process soft, textured materials such as kraft paper and embossed paper.

10. Why does the processing module hit the machine's body when resetting?

  • Other than the non-contact photoelectric limit switch used in M1 and S1, M1 Ultra employs a different reset detection method: motor current detection. In simple terms, when the processing module on the gantry hits the machine's body, the motor’s current fluctuation signals a successful reset. This causes a slight collision sound, which is normal and safe to use.

11. Does blade cutting pose a danger to users?

  • As a safety precaution, the blade operates only when the lid is closed. However, the risks of injury due to changing or installing blades cannot be ruled out. Thereupon, always proceed with caution and follow safety precautions.

12. Why does over-cutting occur under blade cutting and rotary cutting processing?

  • Given the properties of these two types of blades, the cutting edge is neither parallel nor vertical to the material surface. Consequently, over-cutting occurs to achieve a better cut. As shown in the image below, the distance between points A and B represents the over-cut portion.

13. What is the lifespan of the filter cotton in M1 Ultra's exhaust fan module?

  • As different tasks produce different levels of particulates, the lifespan of the filter cotton depends on the actual processing material and task conditions. For instance, when continuously cutting wood, it is recommended to replace the filter cotton every 6-8 hours.
  • For M1 Ultra‘s filter cotton replacements, visit xTool Official website at https://www.xtool.com/ and search for "xTool M1 Ultra Filtro". Be sure to select your country/region before placing an order.

14. How effective is the filter cotton in M1 Ultra's exhaust fan module?

  • The filter cotton can initially filter particulates but cannot eliminate odors. For a better purification effect, it is recommended to use air-purifying products, such as xTool Smoke Purifier and xTool AP2.

15. Can the exhaust fan module be used without filter cotton?

  • No. Using the fan without filter cotton will cause particulates to adhere to the fan blades, preventing the fan from working properly. This can compromise smoke extraction and possibly damage the fan.

16. What should be noted during pen drawing?

  • Before laser processing, ensure the removal of the drawing pen to avoid damage from the high temperature or open flames as the resultant effect of lasering.

17. What should be noted when using the cutting mat?

  • Avoid Using the Cutting Mat During Laser Processing: Laser processing, particularly laser cutting, can produce open flames. To prevent damage to the cutting mat, avoid using it during laser processing.
  • Clean Before Use: Ensure that the baseplate and cutting area are clean before use.
  • Clean After Use: After using the cutting mat, promptly clean off any residual waste and cover the mat with the transparent protective film.

18. What are the dimensions of M1 Ultra’s cutting mats?

  • The cutting mat dimensions are 342mm (L) x 325mm (W) x 1mm (H).
  • The cutting mats are reusable adhesive pads designed to secure your material in place by keeping it flat during processing.

19. Why can't the fabric-grip cutting mat in pink hold materials?

  • This is pertinent to the materials being used. When the mat’s adhesive can no longer hold the material securely for cutting, it should be replaced. When processing fabric, as fibers from the fabric can adhere to the cutting mat, its lifespan may be compromised as a result.
  • To extend the lifespan: Use transfer tape to cover the surface of the cutting mat (with the adhesive side facing up) and place the fabric on the adhesive side of the transfer tape. In this way, the fabric fibers won’t stick to the cutting mat. However, it’s important to note that the cutting mat itself is a consumable item. This means that when its adhesive weakens or it has many scratches, it still needs to be replaced.

20. What should be noted when using the triangular prism holder?

  • As the triangular prism holder is made of plastic, avoid placing it in the laser processing path to prevent damage during lasering.

21. Does the rotary attachment support blade cutting, pen drawing, and inkjet printing?

  • No, the Rotary Attachment does not support these functions.

22. Can the blade mode and inkjet printing mode be engaged while M1 Ultra is working with a Riser Base?

  • Blade Mode: Not supported.
  • Inkjet Printing Mode: Will be supported in the future.

23. Is M1 Ultra compatible with LightBurn?

  • Although M1 Ultra is a versatile digital processing device and LightBurn is a leading software for laser engraving, connecting the device to the software will disable many functions, compromising the user experience.
  • In this regard, M1 Ultra does not support LightBurn. For optimal user experience, please use xTool Creative Space (XCS). To download XCS, visit xTool official website: https://www.xtool.com/pages/software

24. What is the processing sequence/path for multi-module processing mode?

  • Auto-planned processing sequence:
    Inkjet printing>Pen drawing>Foil transfer tip>Rotary blade>Fine-point blade>Cutting blade>Laser engraving>Laser cutting;
  • Custom processing sequence: Adjust the processing order to "By layer" in the "Task planning" section on the right side of XCS.

25. Does M1 Ultra support UV ink?

  • No, M1 Ultra does not support UV ink. UV ink is oil-based and requires ultraviolet light for curing. Instead, M1 Ultra is compatible only with water-based inks.

26. Does M1 Ultra have a built-in camera?

  • No, M1 Ultra does not have a built-in camera.
  • Instead, it utilizes its patented Pinpoint Positioning technology to achieve precise positioning. This advanced system delivers positioning accuracy 10 times greater than traditional single-camera systems. For irregularly shaped objects or batch production, simply take a photo and upload it to xTool Creative Space desktop software for a quick preview and intelligent filling.

  • No, M1 Ultra does not support metal relief processing. For such tasks, consider using F1 Ultra model.

30. What is the DPI of M1 Ultra’s ink module?

The ink module prints at 635 DPI.

DPI (dots per inch) represents the resolution and detail of printed images; higher DPI values indicate better print quality.

31. Does M1 Ultra require an xTool Smart Switch for connecting to xTool Fire Safety Set?

It depends on the accessory type:

  • Requires xTool Smart Switch: For non-Bluetooth communication accessories (i.e., xTool Inline Duct Fan, xTool Smoke Purifier, xTool Air Assist Set), an xTool Smart Switch is recommended to cut off power in the event of a fire alarm for your safety. These accessories do not communicate directly with your laser device(s) through Bluetooth; hence, a smart switch will be beneficial to halt operations in a timely manner.

  • For purchase, contact xTool Customer Service.
  • Connection Diagram: xTool Smart Switch can be used in conjunction with power strips.
xTool Smart Switch
  • Does Not Require xTool Smart Switch: For accessories that communicate with the laser device(s) through Bluetooth (i.e., AP2, IF2, Desktop Air Purifier, Smart Air Assist, Air-Compress Assist), they will automatically stop working when a fire alarm is triggered. This makes a smart switch unnecessary.

32. Does M1 Ultra support xTool Screen Printer?

Yes, xTool M1 Ultra supports xTool Screen Printer.

However, it is only compatible with xTool's small screen printing frame (for all M series products) and supports processing exclusively on the machine's baseplate.

  • The compatible screen printing frame size for M1 Ultra is 9" x 12". Currently, xTool only offers large-size frames (11.5" x 16") in the multi-color set.
  • If you wish to purchase a multi-color set suitable for M1 Ultra, you can start with the basic set and purchase additional components separately, such as small-size frames, positioning pieces, and screens.
