Issue description

  • If you encounter striped prints, refer to this article for troubleshooting advice.

Possible causes

The primary cause of horizontal stripes in inkjet printing is ink blockage. This issue can generally be identified by checking the test print’s three-color bars. If the ink output is incomplete or short of the standard outcome, the result will be striped prints, varying in intensity due to the severity of the blockage.

  • Ink blockage
  • Material texture

Troubleshooting

  #1 Test the ink module

  1. Perform an ink module printing test and check for the three color bars in the test result.

  2. If any colors are missing in the test result, it indicates ink cartridge clogging. Hence, proceed with the next step for cleaning.

#2 Clean the ink cartridge nozzles

  • Dab a paper towel with a small amount of warm water.
  • Gently press the nozzle plate of the ink cartridge onto the paper towel. Repeat this several times until the ink flow is smooth and saturated.

  • For more detailed maintenance, refer to the video tutorial below.
  • If the ink has significantly solidified, soak the nozzle in a small amount of warm water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Dry the nozzle thoroughly before resuming printing.

💡Note The first print after soaking may show variations in color density. Perform a test print to ensure even ink flow.

#3 Switch to a different material

  • If the test result suggests proper operation with standard three-color bars, the issue is likely caused by the texture of the material being printed.
    • Print on Plain White Paper: Try printing on plain white paper. If no stripes appear, this suggests that the issue is due to the material texture.
    • Address Material Absorbency: If the issue persists, the stripes may result from the material’s insufficient absorbency, causing the print output to smear as the ink module moves back and forth. In such cases, apply a coating to improve ink absorption or switch to a different material.
