Updated Jul 30,2024

Issue description

The Wi-Fi connection setup cannot be completed within xTool Creative Space (XCS), or the device name does not appear in the device list after a successful setup.

Troubleshooting

#1 Configure Wi-Fi setting

  • Connect M1 Ultra to your computer via USB and configure the Wi-Fi settings. Click the gear setting icon on the top right corner within XCS to access the Wi-Fi setting section in the "Basic info" tab.

#2 Stop the running VPN

  • Please close the VPN software, restart the XCS software, and then try setting up the Wi-Fi connection again.

#3 Ensure Wi-Fi signal strength

  • Laser engravers may require a stronger signal than devices like smartphones. Move to an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal to use the xTool M1 Ultra.

#4 Ensure the Wi-Fi password does not contain special characters

  • Check if the Wi-Fi name and password contain Chinese, Japanese, or other special characters. It is recommended to use only English letters and numbers, and ensure the password is correct.

#5 Ensure the same network environment

  • Ensure that both the computer and the device are on the same Wi-Fi network.

#6 Set Wi-FI to 2.4Ghz band

  • Switch to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, as M1 Ultra is not compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

#7 Disengage hotspot mode

  • Disconnect all connections to the machine and reboot it. Check if the indicator light is solid blue (device task paused) or solid white (device standby, not connected to XCS) when on standby.

    • If the light is solid white, press and hold the processing button for about 3 seconds until the light turns solid blue, before connecting the USB cable and modifying the device name. Retry connecting to Wi-Fi.
    • If the light is solid blue, proceed to the next step.

#8 Reboot Wi-Fi router

  • IP address conflicts can sometimes lead to connection issues. Restart the router and devices, then try connecting again.

#9 Reinstall the missing Wi-Fi antenna

  • Check if the Wi-Fi antenna is missing.
  • If so, reinstall a new one.
  • Contact xTool Customer Service at support@xtool.com for a replacement. Include a detailed description of the issue, your recipient information, and a list of the troubleshooting results you have already attempted to help us determine the appropriate course of action promptly.

Alternative remedies

If the above steps cannot resolve the issue, below listed two alternative methods

#1 Connect via mobile hotspot

  • Use your smartphone to create a 2.4 GHz hotspot.
  • Connect your computer to this hotspot for connection testing.
  • Alternatively, download the XCS mobile app for network configuration.

#2 Connect via IP address

This is suitable when the network configuration is complete, but the device is still not found. It usually means the machine is connected to a Wi-Fi network,. Hence, you can find the IP address in the connection settings, but not the device name in the Wi-Fi’s device list.

  1. Connect the machine to the computer via USB.

  2. Open the following link in your browser: http://201.234.3.1:8080/net?action=getssid.

    - The webpage will display the name of the Wi-Fi network the machine connected to most recently.

    - If you do not discover the desired Wi-Fi name or come across {“result”:“failed”}, reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection in the XCS software and check this page again to ensure a successful connection.

  3. After completing the previous step, open the following link in your browser: http://201.234.3.1:8080/net?action=ifconfig.

    - The webpage will display the device’s IP address.

    - Use the mouse to select and copy the IP address following “wlan0-ip”.

  4. On the IP connection settings interface of XCS, paste the above IP address and click "Connect".
