This page describes how to make a glass decoration.

What you need

What you need is the assembled xTool S1, a computer with xTool Creative Space (XCS) installed, the power adapter and cable, the USB cable, a glass sheet, laser engraving marking paper, and the project file Glass decoration.xcs.
Note that the material pack delivered with xTool S1 varies. If your material pack does not include the glass sheets and laser engraving marking paper, you need to prepare them by yourself.

Make a glass decoration

Step 1. Get the glass sheet ready for engraving

  1. Cut a piece of laser engraving marking paper in a size that can cover the whole pattern you are to engrave and can be attached entirely to the glass sheet.
  1. Clean the glass sheet with water and soak the laser engraving marking paper in water for 1 to 2 minutes.
  1. Peel off the laser engraving marking paper from the backing paper, attach it to the glass sheet, squeeze out the air bubbles between it and the glass sheet, and blow to dry them.

Now, you are ready to engrave the glass sheet!

Step 2. Power on xTool S1 and connect to XCS

  1. Connect xTool S1 to a power supply.
  1. Turn on the power switch of xTool S1 and connect it to the computer with the USB cable.

Step 3. Open the project file and complete the settings for processing

  1. Open XCS on the computer. In the upper-right corner, click Open from computer to open the Glass decoration.xcs file.

The material and distance have been set. You don't need to modify them.
  1. Place the glass sheet into the machine.

  1. Mark the position of the glass sheet.

(1) Click Start marking.

         (2) Select the Circle shape and click Start marking.
        (3) Move the laser module to allow the center of the red-cross spot to fall at a point at the edge of the glass sheet, and press the button on xTool S1 to record it as point 1.

         (4) Then move the laser module to record another two points as points 2 and 3 in the same way, and click End marking and Done.

  1. Adjust the size and position of the object to be processed.

Step 4. Start processing

  1. Click Framing in the upper-right corner of the project page and press the button on xTool S1 as prompted to preview the processing area. Ensure that the object is to be processed in the expected position. If it is not, adjust the position of the object.

  1. Click Framing completed after previewing the processing area.
  1. Click Process in the upper-right corner of the project page.

The Preview window is displayed. You can preview the processing path.
