Operation process

Before use

1. Install the fire safety set

The installation of the fire safety set may vary according to the laser machines, including the placement and wiring of the sensors.

If you use xTool machines, click the correponding link to see how to install the fire safety set:

xTool D1 & D1 Pro

xTool M1

Laserbox Rotary

xTool P2

xTool S1

If you use a third-party machine, you can refer to the installation of the fire safety set on an xTool machine based on the structure and specifications of your machine.

2. Enter the test mode

After you install and power on the fire safety set, you need to enter the test mode first to complete the pairing of the smart switch and the necessary tests.

Toggle the working / test mode switch down to enter the test mode.

The test state indicator is solid green when the fire safety set works in test mode.

3. Pair the smart switch with the control box

(1) Hold down the button on the smart switch for 5s.

The indicator is solid red, indicating that the smart switch enters the pairing state.

(2) Press the smart switch test button on the control box.

The indicator on the smart switch blinks three times and then goes off, indicating that the smart switch is successfully matched with the control box.

4. Test the control over the smart switch

(1) After connecting the smart switch and control box to a power supply, press the button on the smart switch.

The indicator on the smart switch is solid red, indicating that the smart switch enters the working state.

(2) Press the smart switch test button on the control box.

The indicator on the smart switch goes off, indicating that the control box controls the smart switch properly.

5. Test the sensors (optional)

If you choose to install the sensors delivered with the fire safety set, you need to test the sensors before use.

In test mode, indicators of all the sensors are off by default.

Note: An open flame is required to test the sensors. Be careful not to get burnt.

(1) Place an open flame close to a sensor. It is recommended that you use a candle.

The indicator of the sensor blinks red.

(2) Take the open flame away.

The indicator of the sensor goes off.

Test all the sensors in the same way. If the indicator of a sensor blinks as the open flame moves close to the sensor and goes off as the open flame moves away, the sensor is working properly.

6. Test the flame sensing function of a laser machine (optional)

If you choose to use the flame sensing function of a laser machine (currently, only xTool P2 and xTool S1 support the use of the flame sensing function), that is, connecting the control box to the machine without installing the sensors, you don't need to test the flame sensing function. What you need to do is connect the control box to the machine, toggle the working / test mode switch up to enter the working mode, and ensure that the flame sensing function is enabled on XCS.

If you do want to test the flame sensing function of your laser machine, do not use an open fire in the test. An open fire may damage the housing of the machine.
You are advised to test the flame sensing function as follows:
1. Disconnect the control box from the laser machine to avoid it being triggered to perform fire extinguishing.
2. Use a mobile device, such as an iPad, to play a video including the images of flames or fires and put it inside the machine. If the flame sensing function works properly, XCS displays a message indicating that a flame has been detected.
3. After confirming that the flame sensing function of the machine works properly, connect the control box to the machine again and toggle the working / test mode switch up to enter the working mode.

7. Install the CO2 gas bottles

Note: The gas bottles can be used only once. Replace them after the gas is released.

(1) Disconnect the control box from the power supply to avoid the action of fire extinguishing triggered by mistakenly touching the one-press fire extinguishing button.

(2) Press in the middle of the part where the upper and lower covers meet to loosen the upper cover, and remove the upper cover.

(3) Put the gas bottles into the holes and rotate them clockwise to tighten them.

(4) Put the upper cover back to the control box, and then power on the control box.

In use

After all the preparations are done, you can start to use the fire safety set.

1. Automatic monitoring

Generally, the fire safety set functions well in automatic monitoring state.

(1) Press the button on the smart switch to connect the laser machine to the power supply.

(2) Toggle the working / test mode switch up to enter the working mode.

The test mode indicator goes off, and the working state indicator blinks.

(3) Press the status switching button on the control box.

The working state indicator turns solid green, and the indicators of the sensors turns solid green, indicating that the fire safety set enters the automatic monitoring state.

In the automatic monitoring state, if a flame is detected, the indicators of the sensors blink red and the buzzer sounds.

  • If the flame is small, the buzzer sounds slowly, triggering an alarm only.
  • If the flame is slightly larger, the buzzer sounds faster, triggering an alarm only.
  • If the flame is large, the buzzer sounds rapidly, triggering an alarm and the action of fire extinguishing.

If the action of fire extinguishing is triggered, the gas is released twice at an interval of about 20s. Please wait for the process to complete before you touch the control box.

As the flame goes smaller, the sound of the buzzer goes more and more slowly, and the alarm stops when the flame goes off.

2. Alarm cancelation

If you find that an alarm is a false one, or an alarm is triggered and you can extinguish the fire without using the fire safety set, you can cancel the alarm and set the fire safety set to enter the automatic monitoring state again.

(1) Press the status switching button on the control box within 10s after an alarm is triggered.

The indicators of the sensors stop blinking, and the working state indicator blinks.

(2) Press the status switching button again.

The working state indicator turns solid green, and the indicators of the sensors turns solid green, indicating that the fire safety set enters the automatic monitoring state.

3. One-press fire extinguishing

Note:
  • The one-press fire extinguishing function is available only when the fire safety set runs in working mode.
  • Once triggered, the action of fire extinguishing can't be canceled. Exercise caution when using this function.

When the fire safety set runs in working mode, if you see a flame in the processing space of the machine and want to extinguish it immediately, you can manually trigger the action of fire extinguishing by pressing the one-press fire extinguishing button.

During fire extinguishing, the gas is released twice at an interval of about 20s. Please wait for the process to complete before you touch the control box.

After use

Replace CO2 gas bottles

After the action of fire extinguishing is performed, the gas bottle replacement indicator turns solid on, indicating that you need to replace the gas bottles. You need to purchase new gas bottles for replacement.

Note: The gas bottles can be used only once. Replace them after the gas is released.

(1) After the gas bottle replacement indicator turns solid on, disconnect the control box from the power supply.

(2) Press in the middle of the part where the upper and lower covers meet to loosen the upper cover, and remove the upper cover.
(3) Rotate the gas bottles couterclockwise to remove them.
  • If the closed processing space is no more than 0.065 cubic meters, you can choose to replace 2 or 4 gas bottles.

If you use 2 gas bottles, install them on a diagonal, for example, installing them on holes A, and then install two empty gas bottles on the other diagonal.

  • If the closed processing space is more than 0.065 and no more than 0.13 cubic meters, you need to replace 4 gas bottles.

After replacing the gas bottles, you can connect the control box of the fire safety set to the power supply to use it.
