xTool F1 Ultra supports manual-focus and auto-focus. Manual focusing can be achieved through the touchscreen controller, while automatic focusing can only be achieved by connecting to the software. You can choose the appropriate focusing method based on your needs.

Note: Auto-focus does not work well for materials that are transparent, semi-transparent, reflective, fluffy (eg. cotton), or light absorbing (eg. black acrylic). Please use manual-focus for these materials.

Manual-focus

(1) Lift the protective enclosure, and place the material on the baseplate, allowing the blue light spot to fall on the surface of the material.

(2) Hold down on the Up/Down button for laser module to lift or lower the laser module. When the red and blue light spots overlap, the focus is successfully set.

Note: The blue light spot does not move. If the laser module moves up, the red light spot moves towards the left. If the laser module moves down, the red light spot moves towards the right.

Auto-focus

Note: You need to connect xTool F1 Ultra to XCS and perform auto-focusing with XCS.

(1) Place the material on the baseplate and close the protective enclosure.

Note: To avoid interference from surrounding light, it is recommended to keep the protective enclosure closed during auto-focusing.

(2) In the top-right corner of XCS, click the icon next to the image of xTool F1 Ultra.

(3) On the left side of the pop-up window, select Device settings. Then, click the Homing button under Z-axis homing to return the laser module to its original position.

(4) Close the Device settings window. On the right side of XCS, click the icon under Thickness to start auto-focusing. 

When auto-focusing is complete, XCS displays the thickness of the material, and on xTool F1 Ultra, the red and blue light spots overlap.
