This article applies to:
xTool S1 with all laser modules.
When this issue happens, you should see a pop-up error message that says "Distance sensor exceptions" with the error code "M363 S4".
This error message pops up usually because the height or thickness of the material exceeds the detection range of the sensor.
The height requirements for the material vary depending on wether you use a riser base or not and what accessory you use with. There are mainly three scenarios:
This is the case where you use S1 with its baseplate as-is.
Please make sure the material's thickness meets the height requirement.
Machine & Accessory Combination | Material Height Requirements |
xTool S1 | 0mm < H ≤ 42mm |
xTool S1 + Slat | 0mm < H ≤ 34mm |
xTool S1 + Honeycomb Panel | 0mm < H ≤ 15mm |
Accessory name on the user manual: Riser Base.
This is the case where you use S1 with a class 1 riser base that comes in one piece and does not support a conveyor feeder due to its enclosed design. This is to provide better health protection. For details, please refer to this LSO training guide for xTool S1.
Please make sure the material's thickness meets the height requirement.
Machine & Accessory Combination | Material Height Requirements |
xTool S1 + Riser Base | 70mm ≤ H ≤ 125mm |
xTool S1 + Riser Base + Honeycomb Panel | Level A: 0mm < H ≤ 55mm Level B: 44mm ≤ H ≤ 99mm |
Accessory name on the user manual: Riser Base Supporting Conveyor Feeder.
This is the case where you use S1 with a class 4 riser base that comes in four pieces and needs to be assembled manually. It can work with the conveyor feeder and the front and back panels can be opened for material to pass through.
Please make sure the material's thickness meets the height requirement.
Machine & Accessory Combination | Material Height Requirements |
xTool S1 + Riser Base Supporting Conveyor Feeder | 15.5mm ≤ H ≤ 133.5mm |
xTool S1 + Riser Base Supporting Conveyor Feeder + Honeycomb Panel | Level A: 0mm ≤ H ≤ 43.5mm Level B: 9.5mm ≤ H ≤ 64.5mm Level C: 30.5mm ≤ H ≤ 85.5mm Level D: 51.5mm ≤ H ≤ 106.5mm |
