Troubleshoot "Access-control key" (M53 S0) for xTool S1

Issue Description

When this issue happens, you should see a pop-up error message that says "USB access-control key removed" with the error code "M53 S0". 

 

Troubleshooting

#1 Update the firmware

New firmware is released regularly to fix issues and deliver the latest functions. If it's not up-to-date, some issues may occur. Please make sure you are using the latest firmware for your machine.

  1. Connect the S1 to XCS
  2. Click on Device Settings > Firmware Version > Check for Updates
  3. If the firmware is not up-to-date, please refer to this guide to upgrade.
 

#2 Insert the USB key properly

  1. Make sure the USB security key is inserted on the key port at the rear panel of the machine.
  2. In the tool box that comes with the machine, you should find a spare USB key. In case the current one is damaged or missing, use the spare one. 
 

#3 Check the USB key and port

Please check if the USB key port on the rear panel of the machine is bent, or if the pins inside are broken. If so, please take a picture of the port and contact customer support for a possible replacement of the main control board.
 

If the key port on the rear panel are good and both the current and spare keys are not working, please take a photo of the inside of the keys and contact customer support for further assistance.
