XCS Prompts "Task canceled" During Processing

This guide applies to:

xTool S1 with all laser modules.

 

Issue description

When you're using the S1 and see a "task canceled" message pop up on the XCS screen, and probably also see the machine's indicator blink yellow three times, please follow the steps in this article to fix it.

 

How to fix it

#1 Check the base plate and the riser base 

If the detection screws on the base plate or the riser base (if used) are not tightened, the main control board won't pick up the signal. This will prevent the file from being sent to the machine, hence the error message. Please refer to this guide and check the screws. 

Attention: 

  1. Make sure the screws are of the correct type. 
  2. Make sure the screws are tightened. 
  3. You can use the spares of the same screw type in the package, or the longer ones.

 

#2 Unplug and replug the SD card

The S1 reads the G-code file on the SD card to do its job. 

  • If something's off with the processing status, the SD card is probably not working properly.
  • Please power off the machine, remove the cover, and then unplug and replug the card.

#3 Replace the SD card with a new one 

If the issue persists, please replace the SD card. To get one:

  • Contact customer support and tell us what happened. We may provide a replacement SD card for you.
  • Or, buy one on your own if necessary. Make sure it's 32GB or smaller and formatted as FAT32.

#4 Gather information for further support

If none of the above solves the problem, please contact customer support and provide the following information:

  • The log files from XCS.
  • The log files from the SD card.
  • The version of XCS and the firmware.

And tell us when did the issue happen. These will help us locate the cause. For how to get the above information, please refer to this guide.
