If your ambient temperature is between 20°C (68°F) and 0°C (32°F) or lower, please warm up the screen before use.
Our screen consists of two parts: a coated screen and a corrugated board affixed on top. The latter serves to prevent the mesh from folding during transportation and aids in positioning during mounting.
The corrugated board is attached to the coated screen by the double-sided adhesive. Although we use a relatively weak adhesive type of double-sided tape, the adhesive strength will increase as temperatures drop below 20°C/68°F. This makes it difficult to peel off the board and may result in residual adhesive after removal.
In this context, it is recommended to warm up the screen for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute with a hairdryer in the hot air setting before removing the corrugated board to stretch the screen.
More specifically, focus the heated air on the edges of the board where the double-sided tapes are located. Once the screen is warmed up, the adhesive strength between the board and the stencil will be reduced, making it easier to peel off the board and minimizing the chance of adhesive residue.
After the screen is warmed up, start peeling carefully the corrugated board from one corner. If it remains firmly attached, you may blow heated air with a hairdryer again. While removing the board, try to apply uniform force to avoid unnecessary stretching or deformation of the stencil.
Finally, after the complete removal of the corrugated board, check for any adhesive residue on the stencil surface. If there is any, gently wipe it off with a cotton cloth soaked in alcohol. Now, your screen is ready for the next step in the engraving process.
