What You See
When this issue happens, you'll see a pop-up error message in XCS that says the X-axis motor driver failed.
Why It Happens
The possible causes include:
- The x-axis motor is overheated.
- There is a connection cable issue between the main control board and the x-axis motor.
- The x-axis driver module on the main control board malfunctions.
How To Fix It
#1 Cool the x-axis motor down
- Power the machine off.
- Open the lid to better cool the x-axis motor down for about 5 mins.
- After about 5 minutes of cooling, turn on the machine and run XCS to check if this issue still persists.
- It is advisable to avoid operating M1 in a high-temperature environment to mitigate the x-axis motor overheat.
- If this issue continues, move to the next step.
#2 Reconnect the x-axis motor cable
- Check if the x-axis motor cable (see the picture below) is loosely seated on the socket.
- If so, reconnect the x-axis motor cable securely.
- If this issue continues, proceed to the next step.
#3 Replace the main control board
- When the x-axis driver module on the main control board malfunctions, the laser module cannot move in the left-and-right direction either.
- If the steps above do not work and the problem persists, this may be the cause.
- Contact the xTool Customer Service for a replacement of the main control board to replace the malfunctioning one.
