When processing materials using a D series machine with the infrared laser module, you may encounter a situation where no laser emits from the module. Please follow the instructions below for troubleshooting
Why Does It Happen
Possible causes may include:
The processing power is set too low.
The cable is either plugged in backward or damaged
For bitmap images, the laser skips blank areas. If the starting area of your design is blank, it may seem like the laser isn't working.
The infrared laser module malfunctions.
How To Fix It
#1 Check the Processing Parameter
Check the processing power parameter in XCS.
If the power is set too low, adjust it to a higher value.
Otherwise, move on to the next step.
#2 Check the Cable
Check if the connection cable is loosely seated.
If so, unplug and replug the cable to make sure it's tight.
Check if the cable is plugged backward.
If so, unplug and reseat the cable in the correct direction (See the picture below).
If the cable is damaged, replace it with a new one.
If the cable is intact and seated securely and correctly, proceed to the next step.
#3 Check the File
For bitmap images, the laser moves line by line. It will skip fire if a certain area of the design is blank. Therefore, if your file starts with a blank area, it may look like the laser is not working.
Try using XCS software's built-in vector patterns (as shown in the picture below) to confirm whether the issue is due to the file.
If the laser fires this time, the machine is functioning correctly and you may proceed with processing your image.
If the issue persists, move on to the next step.
#4 Check the Infrared Laser Module
Follow the steps below to check if the laser module is working properly.
When using the infrared laser module:
Check the Red Cross positioning light. It should stay on once the machine is powered on.
Check the laser spot, which, normally, should be a stable one.
More specifically, when you engrave metal materials with the laser module, a dazzling white spot should appear on the metal surface.
If no white spot appears, it may indicate the use of improper materials such as wood.
Hence, it is advisable to process plastic or metal material with the infrared laser module, as it works better on these materials.
If none of the above is the case, the infrared laser module may break down. Please replace it with a new one.
