To get a perfect engraving effect on tumblers, aligning your custom design with the existing logo is important. This tutorial is tailored to assist you in aligning them using a mix of software settings and manual adjustments (future software updates may streamline this process). Let's dive in!
In this tutorial, we use xTool F1 as an example.
Step 1: Tumbler Placement with RA2 Pro
Position the tumbler in the RA2 Pro, and make sure the logo is facing up. This initial alignment sets the stage for precision throughout the process.
Step 2: Insert a Reference Line in XCS
In XCS, navigate to General Settings and enable the Auto-Snap feature. This feature is a lifesaver for centering your design on the canvas.
Then, insert a line while pressing Shift, and make sure it is centered both vertically and horizontally.
[For V1.7 or before] Navigate to Object Setting and select Ignore. This step ensures your machine won't process this reference line.
[For V2.1 or later] Select the line you just drew and switch off Output. This step ensures your machine won't process this reference line.
Step 3: Framing & Aligning
Hit the Framing button and observe the projected lines on the tumbler. If the lines aren't aligning with the logo center, manually adjust the tumbler until they intersect right.
To ensure precision, you can draw a single line on the tumbler. This acts as a guide to guarantee exact alignment.
Step 4: Edit Your Design and Process
Import your own design into XCS as usual, and snap it to the center of the canvas.
Rotate 90 degrees / 270 degrees to ensure the design aligns with the tumbler’s orientation.
Finally, set your parameters as usual, and send the design to your machine for engraving.
