Test Processing Parameters for Your Screens
Updated Sep 23,2024
Updated Sep 23,2024

xTool Creative Space (XCS) provides recommended processing settings for the screens of xTool Screen Printer.

Unlike other materials, you need to set the processing parameters for the screens with caution to ensure that the coating (photosensitive emulsion) in the processed area is removed while the steel wires are not burnt out.

The recommended settings, however, are tested in labs and may not work the best due to laser power attenuation or other machine differences. Therefore, you are advised to test processing settings in an area of 3 inch × 3 inch in an corner of a screen to find out the best settings for your machine before creating your works.

The testing steps are as follows:

1. Download the following file and open it on XCS.

2. Set the processing type to Engrave and set the Lines per cm by referring to the following table.

After processing, find out the parameter setting for the processed area where the coating is properly removed while no steel wire is burnt out and use it as the processing setting for your screens. Here are some examples.

❌ Steel wires burnt out

❌ Coating not properly removed

Coating properly removed while no steel wire burnt out
The preceding processing results are for reference only. You can observe your processed screen area as follows:
  • Observe the processed screen area under light.
  • Use a mobile phone or camera to shoot the processed screen area with a zoom range of 5 to 10 times and observe the picture.
