Updated Jan 26,2024
What You See
When this issue happens, you'll see a pop-up error message in XCS that says the U-axis motor driver of the Rotary Attachment 2 (RA2) failed.
Why This Happens
The possible causes include:
The RA2 motor is overheated.
The RA2 motor is short-circuited.
There is a connection cable issue between the RA2 and the M1.
The adapter cable for the RA2 is loosely seated on the socket of the main control board.
How to Fix It
#1 Cool the RA2 Motor Down
Power the M1 off and cool the RA2 down for about 5 mins.
After about 5 minutes of cooling, turn on the M1 and run XCS to check if this issue still persists.
It is advisable to avoid operating RA2 in a high-temperature environment to mitigate motor overheating.
If this issue continues, move to the next step.
#2 Replace the RA2 Motor
Power the M1 off.
Disconnect the cable from the RA2 end while leaving the other end connected to M1.
Power the M1 on to check if the error message persists.
If the error message disappears, this indicates a malfunction in the RA2 motor. Please contact the xTool Customer Service for a replacement to replace it.
If the error message persists, proceed to the next step.
#3 Replace the RA2 Cable
Power the M1 off.
Remove the RA2 cable from M1.
Power the M1 on to check if the error message continues.
If not, replace the RA2 cable with another one.
If so, move to the next troubleshooting step.
#4 Secure the Adaptor Cable
Check if the adapter cable of the RA2 is loosely seated on the socket of the main control board (see the picture below).
If so, reconnect the cable securely.
