Updated Jan 26,2024
What You See
When this issue happens, you'll see a pop-up error message in XCS that says the U-axis motor driver of the Rotary Attachment 2 (RA2) failed.

Why This Happens
The possible causes include:
- The RA2 motor is overheated.
- The RA2 motor is short-circuited.
- There is a connection cable issue between the RA2 and the M1.
- The adapter cable for the RA2 is loosely seated on the socket of the main control board.
How to Fix It
#1 Cool the RA2 Motor Down
- Power the M1 off and cool the RA2 down for about 5 mins.
- After about 5 minutes of cooling, turn on the M1 and run XCS to check if this issue still persists.
- It is advisable to avoid operating RA2 in a high-temperature environment to mitigate motor overheating.
- If this issue continues, move to the next step.
#2 Replace the RA2 Motor
- Power the M1 off.
- Disconnect the cable from the RA2 end while leaving the other end connected to M1.
- Power the M1 on to check if the error message persists.
- If the error message disappears, this indicates a malfunction in the RA2 motor. Please contact the xTool Customer Service for a replacement to replace it.
- If the error message persists, proceed to the next step.
#3 Replace the RA2 Cable
- Power the M1 off.
- Remove the RA2 cable from M1.
- Power the M1 on to check if the error message continues.
- If not, replace the RA2 cable with another one.
- If so, move to the next troubleshooting step.
#4 Secure the Adaptor Cable
- Check if the adapter cable of the RA2 is loosely seated on the socket of the main control board (see the picture below).
- If so, reconnect the cable securely.
