This article applies to
S1 with all laser modules.
This means the red cross indicator on the XCS canvas won't move accordingly as the laser module moves. The indicator may get stuck outside the measurable range, hence, the error message. After fixing this issue, you'll be able to move it to the measurable area so the error won't come up again. For more details, please refer to this guide.
If the red cross indicator functions normally, and you get this error message after clicking the frame button in XCS, it means the laser module is out of the measurable range. Move the laser module into the range to avoid this error from popping up. For more about the measurable range, please read the rest of this guide.
The laser module has specific distances between the red cross-positioning light, the laser output, and the distance sensor. As the laser module moves, the areas covered by are also different.
The ranges that the module can cover are marked with different colors as follows:
Each area has some part overlapping with others.
As shown above, the actual area available for automatic measurement is the region the laser module can cover, which is the area marked as ①. The area marked as ② exceeds the range of the red crosshair. At position ③, the probe of the distance sensor can not reach to take measurements.
Therefore, when the laser module is next to the rear plate, at the leftmost, or rightmost positions, and automatic measurement is initiated on XCS, a pop-up error message will appear stating, "Automatic distance measurement can't be performed in this area."
