Issue description
During laser processing, especially at higher power levels, the laser tube does not emit any light (a purplish-red beam).
The image below shows the glow emitted during normal operation. You can also see it through the gaps in the device housing.

Possible causes
- Failure of the laser tube
- Laser power supply failure
Troubleshooting procedures
1. Check the power
Laser tubes have a minimum excitation power, and this value increases as the laser tube’s lifespan decreases (typically by no more than 15%). You can gradually increase the power to 50% for processing to see if the laser tube fails to illuminate only at low power levels.
- If so, it indicates that the laser tube is affected by the minimum laser power; you can adjust the minimum output power in the device settings.

- If not, check for other issues.
2. Check the laser tube
(1) Disconnect the power supply from the device. Refer to the video tutorial to remove the laser tube cover.
- xTool P2: Replace the Laser Tube of xTool P2
- xTool P2S: Replace the Laser Tube for P2S
(2) Check whether the laser tube is cracked (the inner tube and the outer tube):
- If the laser tube is normal, check for other issues.
- If the laser tube is cracked, replace it with a new laser tube.
3. Check the cables of the laser power
(1) Disconnect the power supply of the device and remove the left and right plates by referring to the video tutorial.
- xTool P2: Remove the Casing of xTool P2 Laser Engraver - xTool Support Center
- xTool P2S: Remove & Install the Left Plate for xTool P2S - xTool Support Center
(2) Check whether the laser power control cable connector and cable are loose. If they are loose, secure them again; otherwise, check for other issues.
4. Check the power supply of the laser tube
Do not touch or get close to the internal components of the device while it is powered on. If you need to disassemble, install, or inspect any parts, turn off the power switch first, wait 3–5 minutes, then unplug the power cable before processing.
Following the previous steps, after removing the right-side cover, turn on the power switch, perform a simple test, and check whether the laser power supply’s operation indicator light is working properly:
① is a status indicator light; it is dim or off when not in operation, and bright when in operation.
② is the power indicator light; it turns on when the power is connected.
- If the indicator light malfunctions, replace the laser power supply.
- If the indicator light works properly, please check for other issues.
