Common processing problems
I. Laser engraving processing:
#1 The laser engraved pattern is not clear
Reason 1: Inaccurate focus.
Solution: Re-measure the height of the material or manually measure it to ensure correct focus.
Reason 2: Low-definition picture.
Solution: Replace the higher definition picture for engraving.
Reason 3: Engraving density is too low.
Solution: Increase the engraving density before processing.
Reason 4: The engraving speed is too fast.
Solution: Reduce the engraving speed appropriately.
Reason 5: Material problems, some materials are easy to melt or burn after being heated, resulting in easy paste engraving, such as PU film, A4 paper, etc.
Solution: Reduce the engraving power or increase the engraving speed, such as still paste, it is recommended to replace the material engraving.
Reason 6: Power problem, too much power will make the engraving edge seriously black, and too little power will be a lot of pattern details can not be presented, making it look very poor engraving effect.
Solution: According to the actual situation, adjust the laser power.
Reason 1: The Y-axis coupling is loose.
Solution: Turn the coupling by hand to see if it is loose. If the coupling is loose, tighten it.
Reason 2: Y-axis synchronous wheel is not installed in place, the synchronous wheel is not fixed to the hole.
Solution: Loosen the coupling, reinstall the synchronous wheel in place, and then tighten the coupling.
Reason 3: The X-axis optical axis is dry, not lubricated or dirty (common in the case of no maintenance after long-term use) ;
Solution: Refer to "Machine Maintenance " ( https://support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/6316869923223-How-to-maintain-the-M1-guide-rails- ) to maintain the optical axis.
Reason 4: X axis synchronous wheel loose ;
Solution: Disassemble the machine baseplate, turn the machine over and place it, observe whether the X-axis synchronous wheel shown in the figure is loose, if it is loose, adjust its height and then tighten it.
Reason 5: Observe whether the connecting wires of the X-axis and Y-axis motors are loose or have poor contact ;
Solution: Refer to FAQs " How to remove the protective cover of M1 main board " ( https://support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/4719484188439-xTool-M1-FAQs#h_01G2VWH523JWGB8GM1ZKYDVJFX ), and re-plug the motor cable.
#3 The engraving laser power is normal, but no traces are produced
Reason 1: The material is a material that cannot be processed, for example, it is difficult to process traces on some pure metal surfaces.Solution: Use metal with oxide coating or spray paint coating for engraving;
Reason 2: It is difficult for materials to absorb laser energy, such as transparent materials such as transparent acrylic and transparent glass.
Solution: Spray a layer of water-soluble paint on the surface of the material or engrave it after using xtool's official laser color paper material, which can increase the absorption of laser energy by transparent materials. If it is still impossible to engrave, it is recommended to replace the material;
Reason 3: Sculpting is done using a rotating attachment, but the graphics are placed outside the engraving area.
Solution: Move the auxiliary line to the highest point of the cylinder material, and place all the engraving patterns on the right side of the auxiliary line.
II. Laser cutting processing
#1 Unable to cut through materialReason 1: Wrong identification or selection of consumables.
Solution: The processing parameters between different consumables are not the same. Please manually select the correct consumables through the software, and then use the default parameters for processing.
Reason 2: The power or speed is unreasonable.
Solution: If the official consumables cannot be cut through due to moisture or deformation, or the unofficial consumables cannot be cut through, at least one of increasing the power or reducing the speed can be taken to increase the laser processing intensity so that it can cut through the consumables.
Reason 3: laser lens pollution, resulting in reduced effective laser power.
Solution: Remove the M1 baseplate, turn it over and place the M1, and use a cotton swab to dip a small amount of alcohol to wipe the laser lens.
Reason 4: The baseplate is uneven or the consumables are uneven.
Solution : The baseplate is uneven and the consumables are uneven, resulting in different degrees of ablation on the surface of the consumables, which affects the processing effect of the consumables.(1) If the consumables are uneven, please try to replace the flat consumables.(2) If the baseplate is uneven, please try to bend the bent part and pass the processing test to see if it has been repaired. If it cannot be solved, please contact our technical team through the email ( support@xtool.com ) for processing.Reason 5: the use of M1 difficult to process materials.
Solution: M1 uses a semiconductor laser solution, and the laser cutting effect of some materials is not good, or even impossible to process, such as transparent materials, metals, ceramics, etc. If these materials are cut through, they can only be processed with other tools.Reason 6: The thickness of the material is too thick.
Solution: Perform multiple processing. Some materials that can be cut, such as basswood board, corrugated paper, etc., because the power of M1 is limited, the thickness of consumables that can be cut through at one time is limited. If the thickness of the material is very thick, multiple processing can be performed to achieve the effect of cutting through.#2 The machining path is offset
The cause and solution of the problem are the same as in this article "I. Laser engraving processing > The engraving appears to lose steps, and the pattern is displaced". (Please click here)
III. Knife cutting:
#1 Why can't the knife cut through the material or the cutting depth is uneven?
Reason 1 : Wrong identification or selection of consumables.
Solution : The processing parameters between different consumables are not the same. Please manually select the correct consumables through the software, and then use the default parameters for processing.
Reason 2 : The blade is worn.
Solution : Replace the tool. With the extension of use time, or when cutting consumables with high hardness, wear will occur, which will affect the final cutting effect (consumables warped or consumables that could be completely cut can no longer be completely cut), replace the tool head Tutorial link: https://support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/4903824108567-How-to-Replace-the-Blade-for-M1.
Reason 3 : Uneven baseplate or uneven consumables
Solution: The uneven baseplate and consumables will affect the cutting depth of the cutter head, resulting in a change in knife pressure. When the knife pressure is lower than the minimum pressure at which the consumables are cut, the consumables will not be cut through.(1) If the consumables are uneven, please try to replace the flat consumables.(2) If the baseplate is slightly uneven, you can perform tool calibration to improve the cutting effect. Knife cutting calibration link: https://support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/5311517082391-M1-Blade-Calibration-Software(3) If the baseplate is obviously uneven, please try to bend the bent part and conduct a processing test to see if the repair has been completed. If it cannot be solved, please contact our technical team through the email ( support@xtool.com ) for processing.
Reason 4 : The knife pressure is too low to completely cut through the consumables.
Solution : Increase knife pressure.

Reason 5 : The material is too thick or hard to process.
Solution : The theoretical maximum processing thickness of knife cutting is 1.5mm. If the material exceeds this thickness, it is normal that it cannot be cut through; if the material is hard, such as 1mm PVC board, acrylic board, etc., because these materials are hard, even if It is difficult to cut it completely with the maximum knife pressure. For these materials, it is recommended to use laser cutting mode for processing.
#2 When the knife is cut, the material will be displaced.
Reason 1 : After long-term use, the viscosity of the cutting pad decreases, and the consumables cannot be effectively fixed.
Solution : Replace with a new cutting pad (xTool official store will sell it simultaneously after the M1 is listed).
Reason 2: The protective film of the cutting pad is not torn off.
Solution : Tear off the protective film on both sides and use it. The protective film is not easy to discard. After the cutting pad is used, the protective film can be re-attached to the cutting pad to prolong the service life of the cutting pad.
Reason 3: Two kinds of cutting backing plates are mixed, the red one is a high-viscosity backing plate, and the blue one is a low-viscosity backing plate.
Solution : Refer to the material package specification in the machine accessories and select the correct backing plate according to the material.

Reason 4: Two kinds of cutting backing plates are mixed, the red one is a high-viscosity backing plate, and the blue one is a low-viscosity backing plate.
Solution : Refer to the material package specification in the machine accessories and select the correct backing plate according to the material.
#3 The path is shifted during cutting
Other reasons : knife cutting is difficult to process the current material perfectly, the cutting resistance is very large, and the processing path cannot be completely cut, making the processing path discontinuous, and it looks like the processing path has shifted;
Solution : It is not recommended to use knife cutting to process these materials to avoid damage to the machine or tool, and laser cutting mode can be used for processing.Was this article helpful?
