Basic Knowledge

Q: What is the difference between a passive module and a multi-function module?

A: The tool head of the multi-function module can actively rotate and adjust the direction of the blade, while the direction change of the fine-point blade relies on the module's movement of X&Y direction

Q: What is the difference between all the blades and tips?

A: There are 4 different blade-like accessories for xTool M1 Ultra.

Fine-point blade: Cutting soft materials up to 1.5mm. Such as Vinyl, and paper. It works with the passive module

Cutting blade: A bigger sharper blade that cuts materials up to 2.5mm. It can cut papers and hard fabrics

Foil transfer tip (optional accessory): A tip that is used for imprint and foil transfer printing

Rotary blade (optional accessor): A roller-type blade for cutting soft fabric like felt and clothes

Q: What is the working area of different modes?

A: Laser Mode: 300mm*300mm

  Blade Mode: 295mm*295mm

  Pen Mode: 300mm*300mm

  Inkjet Mode: 296mm*286mm

Q: How can the machine still be Class 1 if the door of the riser base can be opened?

A: Customer is not allowed to open the door during the processing, the door can only be opened when the machine is not in processing, for load/offload material purposes.

Q: The machine has a red cross marker that is still turning on when the lid is open, does this situation violate the class 1 requirement?

A: The energy of the red cross marker complies with the class 1 requirement so the machine doesn't violate the class 1 requirement in this situation

Q: Does the M1 Ultra have a camera? If not, how does it determine positioning?

A: No, M1 Ultra does not have a built-in camera.

Instead, it utilizes its patented Pinpoint Positioning technology to achieve precise positioning. This advanced system delivers positioning accuracy 10 times greater than traditional single-camera systems. For irregularly shaped objects or batch production, simply take a photo and upload it to xTool Creative Space desktop software for a quick preview and intelligent filling.

Inkjet Printing

Q: What is the maximum thickness that inkjet printing can support?

A: Maximum thickness supports up to 20mm

Q: What is the printing speed of the inkjet printing?

A: It is processing fixed at 240mm/s

Q: What material can inkjet printing process on

A: Materials that can support: Porous surface materials that can absorb ink, such as basswood, white paper, photo paper, shrink plastic
Materials that can't support: Food, metal, Acrylic, cotton T-shirt, stone, etc.

Q: How long can an ink cartridge last?

A: An ink cartridge can support 20 A4 paper printing

Q: Can I add ink manually for the ink cartridge if the ink is used up?

A: The ink cartridge is sealed. If you forcefully open it, it may damage the cartridge, and the ink you added may leak. Therefore, you are not suggested to add ink manually.

Q: When ink for one color is used up but ink for other colors remains. does it mean that the entire ink cartridge needs to be replaced?

A: It is recommended to replace the ink cartridge for color balance. If ink for one color is used up, the printing result will be different.

Q: Do you have other types of ink such as sublimation ink?

A: The inkjet module uses thermal foaming technology, it can't support sublimation ink.

Multi-function module

Q: How does foil transfer work?

A: Use pressure transfer to force the electroplated aluminum layer to be transferred to the material surface to form a pattern

Q: Can the foil transfer tip work with heat

A: It can only work with imprints, but can not work with heat

Q: What is the maximum thickness for foil transfer? Can they be used for processing on a thicker surface?

A: The foil transfer doesn't support imprint on a thicker surface currently.

Q: Is there a specific description of the function and use of different blades?

A: The cutting blade is used for the flexible material up to 2.5mm thickness. Compared with the fine-point blade, it has a stronger cutting ability. For example, thicker leather can be processed by the cutting blade. The blade is also larger, so it needs the multi-function module to adjust the direction by actively rotating
The Rotary blade is used for soft fabric materials. Such as denim, cotton, linen, felt, etc.
The foil transfer tip can work with foil, to achieve the effect of hot stamping on paper. Without using foil it can also imprint on soft wood.
The fine-point blade's main processing scene is thin and flexible materials, such as A4 copy paper, self-adhesive stickers, Vinyl, and other relatively thin materials, because the blade is small

Passive module

Q: Can third-party pens be used on this machine?

A: Yes, but only the pens that fit the pen carrier can be used on the machine

Q: Can the pen carrier support many different types of pens?

A: For precise processing, we should install the pen with the pen carrier at a specific height. The pen carrier supports xTool official pens and non-official third-party brand pens.
However, some functions can't be used due to the length when some third-party pens are used.

Q: What materials can the pen draw on?

A: The main function of the pen is to draw patterns and text, such as writing text on greeting cards and paper.

Q: Can I use the M1 blade to replace the M1 Ultra fine-point blade?

A: only the 45° blade is compatible with both machines, 60° blade for xTool M1 is not compatible with xTool M1 Ultra

Q: Can the drawing feature work with the lid open?

A: Third-party pens may require the lid to be open during operation. The "Pen Drawing" mode is the only mode that allows operation with the lid open. For your safety, please remove the laser module and blades to eliminate any potential risks before proceeding. Please note that multi-module processing is not supported when the lid is open.

Get to know the operations, exceptions and precautions

Q: [How to] Do multi-module processing?

A: Please choose multi-module processing in the software, then set up different processing modes for each element on the canvas.
If a project is related to different modules, it will be divided into several tasks according to the modules used. Once the task of a module is finished, the machine will stop processing, waiting for the user to exchange new modules and the software will notify the user to exchange modules.
After the module is exchanged, the machine will keep processing. If the user mistakenly exchanged an incorrect module, the machine will detect and the software will notify the user

Q: [How to] Find the center of the marking area

A: When you finished marking a processing area, you will find a light-colored cross mark at the center of the marking area

Q: [How to] Use XCS mobile version snapshot as a camera and send the photo to your computer as a positioning background reference?

A: Please refer to the video guide https://support.xtool.com/article/1471

Q: [Hardware] Can I hot-swap the modules?

A: Users can hot-swap the modules when the machine is not processing. For example, you can swap the modules between tasks of a multi-module processing project
However, it is prohibited to hot swap the modules during an unfinished task

Q: [Operation] Can I set up the processing sequence for the tasks of a multi-module processing project?

A: The current sequence of different tasks is fixed: Inkjet -> Pen drawing ->blade cut ->Laser.
With the software upgrade, users will be able to set up the sequence of the tasks manually

Q: [How to ] Prevent the ink from drying for the inkjet module?

A: The inkjet module has a cover for the ink cartridge outlet, when the inkjet printing task is finished, covering the module with the cover will delay the drying of the ink.
There is a small piece of cotton on the cover to prevent the ink from drying, add some water to make the cotton wet before using the cover.
If the inkjet module will not be used for several days, the wet condition of the cotton on the cover needs to be maintained once a week.
If the ink gets dry, please use a small amount of water (a few drops), simply soak the ink outlet in the water drops for a few seconds, and the ink will become usable.

Q: [How to] Clean the fan inside the exhaust tube?

A: As long as the filter cotton is installed correctly, the cleaning and maintenance of the fan can be greatly reduced.

Q: The color looks different from a real photo, why?

The inkjet module uses CMY ink (CYAN, Magenta, and Yellow)as the base color for patterns, it is a little different from the photo displayed on the computer screen.

Q: What should I do if the software says "The cutting blade installed does not match"

A: That is because the blade isn't installed correctly, please take out the multi-function module from the machine to install the blade. Please make sure the blade is installed correctly into the hole of the blade holder. When you release the clip, the blade should remain fixed and not fall out immediately.

Q: Why should I calibrate each module?

Due to the slight structural differences between modules, uncalibrated modules may have millimeter-level positioning deviations, resulting in positional differences between tasks in multi-module processing.
Please note: If the module calibration is not performed strictly according to the calibration steps, the positioning deviation of the module may be enlarged. Please strictly follow the software instructions to complete each step of the calibration
