đź“– About this guide

  • If you've failed your first attempt to calibrate F1 Ultra's blue and red dots for focusing, fret not! This guide will walk you step-by-step on how to calibrate your F1 Ultra's blue and red dots. Follow these steps carefully to ensure precise calibration.

đź“Ś Important notes

- Tools needed

  1. A piece of 100 x 100 mm art scratch paper (included in the F1 Ultra package);
  2. A roll of adhesive tape.
  3. xTool Creative Space (XCS | version 2.0 or above)

- Before calibration

  • Click the gear icon on the upper right to enter the Device settings.
  • Locate "Parameter settings" -> “Fiber IR and blue-light laser calibration” and click "Start calibration”.

- Video tutorial

For a video tutorial on red dot calibration, please refer to Calibrate the Red Dot on F1 Ultra for Focusing.

🛠️Calibration procedure

#1 Material placement

  • Place the art scratch paper flat: Flatten the paper and secure it to the baseplate with two pieces of adhesive tape for complete adhesion.
  • Center the paper: Position it as centrally as possible on the baseplate to minimize potential errors.

#2 Observe your image to see if it is crisp enough.

- If the image is unclear on xTool Creative Space (XCS), try the following tips for a sharp image:

  1. Click the refresh button (see the demo picture below) to capture a new image until the image is sharp.

  - Coordinates of the blue light and fiber infrared (IR)

  • Auto-recognize: Click "Auto-recognize" to allow XCS to calculate the offset coordinates of the blue and fiber IR dots automatically.

⚠️ Note: This feature is available only for the latest  F1 Ultra firmware. If your calibration differs from this, please update your firmware accordingly. For more, refer to Upgrade the Firmware for xTool F1 Ultra.

đź’ˇManual Calibration Tips:
1. Correct axis identification: Do not confuse the X-axis with the Y-axis. The horizontal axis is X while the vertical axis is Y.
2. Sign accuracy: Ensure you apply the correct positive or negative sign based on the crosshair’s quadrant.
3. Precision to 0.1mm: Ensure the precision is within 0.1mm. For instance, entering -0.4 or -0.3 on the X-axis will have a negligible effect on processing (see demo picture 4).
4. Cross coordinates only: Read coordinates from the center of the cross, not the red and blue dots.

  • Click "Recheck" to verify if the input parameters are accurate. Once confirmed, click "Confirm" to proceed to the next step.

#3 Adjust the ball head

  • Gentle Screw Tightening: After adjusting the red dot position, gently tighten the screw on the right of the ball head. Avoid over-tightening to prevent shifting the red dot.

#4 Fine-tuning parameters

  • Save screenshot for reference: It is advisable to snap a screenshot of the data on this screen to aid in future fine-tuning.

#5 Device sleep mode

  • Wake up the device by touching its touchscreen controller: If the machine enters sleep mode during calibration, simply touch the touchscreen controller to wake it up.

âť— DO NOT press any buttons on the controller to wake it up, as this may invalidate your calibration efforts.

#6 Input smaller coordinate values

  • Enter small deviations: If the engraved cross coordinates are within 0.5mm, still enter the values. It is recommended to ensure precision within 0.1mm.
